This month at the Games for Change Festival in NYC, we will be giving a talk and hosting a birds-of-a-feather around “Playful Cities – neighborhood games and interactive stories” — especially with libraries and cultural institutions. June 27-28, 2024.
(1) Featured talk: “59 Cities with History”
Benjamin Stokes will give our talk on “59 Cities with History: Connected Play Beyond Library Walls” at 12pm on June 27th. Full description: “In more than 59 cities and towns, we trained library staff in game design to bring local history to life — especially outdoors. The results involve texting with sculptures, audio scavenger hunts, kiosks, and using AI to reimagine monuments. Here we identify five recipes that any town can use.”
(2) Birds-of-a-Feather for Playful Cities
Afterward, join us for demos / brown-bag lunch / birds-of-a-feather networking session. Informal. The topic will be “Playful Cities – neighborhood games and interactive stories.” From 1-2pm (again on June 27th) in the “5th floor networking space.”
